The 80s classic, which spawned several follow-ups and a remake starring, has long been a pop-culture staple—and at a time when any property of value is getting a pumped-up reboot, it’s only fitting that the teen karate drama would be next. According to, YouTube Red is dipping into this particular well of nostalgia and drafting a new 10-episode series titled Cobra Kai, with original Karate Kid Ralph Macchio and original Blond Bully William Zabka both set to reprise their roles. The series, which will premiere in 2018, takes place 30 years after the events of the original 1984 film. Johnny (Zabka) repopens the Cobra Kai dojo, which sparks a fresh rivalry with his old foe Daniel (Macchio)—who’s found success as an adult but is lost without the guidance of his former wax on-wax off mentor Mr.
